Club Description: Andaaz is Cal Poly’s premiere Indian fusion dance team. In their fourth year as a team, they are competing on the national stage with their Subway Surfers themed set, which incorporates everything from classical Indian dance to hiphop to tell a creative story. They have competed in Texas and Indiana, as well as at UCSB’s Nachle Deewane, where they placed first!
Andaaz focuses on fostering an inclusive, creative environment that showcases Cal Poly’s vibrant South Asian community. Their goal as a team is to be a place where everybody can be themselves and cultivate a love for dance and culture. On campus, they perform at cultural events as well as host workshops open to all! Outside of busy practices, you can find them hitting Slo Do Co at midnight or running around Pismo Beach.

Club Description: Hui Haumana immerses students in Pacific Islander culture through traditional dance, fostering authentic cultural appreciation, community connections, and a sense of belonging while sharing and celebrating heritage through cultural showcases. Hula is one of their two forms of dance, a Hawaiian tradition that serves as storytelling through graceful movement. Each gesture, expression, and rhythm conveying the stories, history, and spirit of the islands.

Club Description: Imagen y Espíritu Ballet Folklórico de Cal Poly is a student-led dance club that performs traditional Mexican folk dance at various Cal Poly events and local community events. Club Description: Kasayahan is a non audition traditional Filipino dance group within the Pilipino Cultural Exchange. The dance group is open to dancers of ALL levels and embraces a community through culture, kaibigan, and pamilya. Kasayahan performs dances from various suites across all islands of the Philippines! This includes Maria Clara, Barrio, Mountain, Lumad, and Muslim suites. The term Kasayahan invokes feelings of celebration and happiness and the group strives to celebrate culture and the simplicities of life. Club Description: Trăm Phần Trăm is a traditional Vietnamese dance team affiliated with the Vietnamese Student Association. The team will be performing three types of dances: short fan dance, long fan dance, hat dance, with a traditional rice farmer’s hat, known as a “Nón lá,”. Tram Phan Tram translate to 100% in Vietnamese, as the club aims to give 100% in their performances and create an inclusive and fun environment for any interested in this traditional dance.

Club Description: Kaja Krew (K2) is a non-audition K-pop dance club that is open to students from all backgrounds. “Kaja” (가자) mean “let’s go” is often used to encourage others. In essence, Kaja Krew is an invitation to dance, have fun, and be part of an energetic and passionate community. Kaja Krew aims to be an all-inclusive space in which members will respect each other regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, beliefs (religious and otherwise), and sexual orientation.

Club Description: ShanWu is an up-and-coming dance group that draws inspiration from Chinese traditional dance and culture. The name ShanWu comes from the Chinese proverb “Neng Ge Shan Wu,” which roughly translates to “multi-talented and versatile.” The dancers of ShanWu seek to explore a unique style that blends a variety of Chinese elements with traditional or modernized choreography.

Club Description: Tahitian dance is the other main form practiced by Hui Haumana, originating from the Pacific island of Tahiti. Known for its energetic tempo and powerful hip movements, Tahitian dance tells stories through dynamic rhythm and expression. Each motion of the hips and hands conveys emotion, narrative, and connection to nature, embodying the vibrancy and strength of Tahitian culture. This dance form allows students to experience storytelling in a more intense, physically expressive way, celebrating both discipline and joy through movement.
