Club Description:

ShanWu is a dance group that draws inspiration from Chinese traditional dance and culture. The dancers of ShanWu seek to explore a unique style that blends various Chinese elements of traditional classical or folk choreography. We strive to communicate the essence of Chinese culture through visual storytelling and bring diversity to the dance community at Cal Poly.

Through myth and folklore, Chinese culture teaches that the spirit world lingers near, with ghosts, demons, and apparitions arising from injustice and untended desires. Some seek vengeance, others long for release, but all remind us of life’s fragile line between peace and regret. This year for Illuminate, we will watch how their stories unfold, may we be reminded to live with intention and resolve, so we leave no unfinished business behind.
